How Quickly Do We Stray?

"I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heave, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!"

Paul, the apostle, writing to the churches of Galatia. Several times throughout this first chapter Paul defends his ministry and position from the Lord as an apostle. He also reminds his readers that the message that he has preached was not his own or made up by man but came to him by revelation of Jesus Christ.  Paul greets his readers with "grace and peace" which he says "comes from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father"
He was amazed at how fast the Galatians were turning from the grace of Christ for another gospel. Paul also warned that if another person or being came preaching another gospel, even if they be an angel from heaven, he is to be accursed!

Even in our day and age there are false teachers who come preaching only to distort and destroy the gospel of Christ. And often enough there are many who turn from the truth of Christ to follow these false teachers.
It's my prayer that we remain faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ that we neither stray from it nor do we lead others astray.  May we be reminded that it was Christ who gave Himself to bare our sins that we'd be rescued from the evil in this present age.

"Prone to wander Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love,
Take my heart Lord, take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above"
